US Firm Mergers Stay High But Fall Short Of Record

Law360, New York (January 5, 2015, 11:20 AM EST) -- The volume of U.S. law firm mergers remained high through the final months of last year, but the 2014 total fell well short of 2013's record-smashing tie-up numbers.

Eighteen announced firm deals in the fourth quarter brought the year’s total to 80, according to legal consultant Altman Weil Inc.'s MergerLine report.

While the fall numbers were in line with Q4 activity in 2010, 2011, and 2012, it fell far short of the frenzy at the end of 2013.
