Boston Archdiocese Sues Whirlpool For Faulty Fridge

Law360, New York (July 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston has filed a $10 million product liability lawsuit against Whirlpool Corp., the world's largest home appliance company, claiming that a defective refrigerator caused a fire that destroyed a Massachusetts church.

The complaint, filed June 4 in the Norfolk County Superior Court of Massachusetts, seeks $10 million in monetary relief and alleges that Whirlpool's negligence, breach of implied warranty and violation of the Consumer Protection Act caused the Archdiocese severe property damage and financial loss.
