Germany Grinds Coffee Roasters In Cartel Probe

Law360 (July 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The German Federal Cartel Office raided the offices of several major coffee manufacturers Thursday in a new price-fixing investigation.

The office has yet to name the companies involved in the probe but said it acted on suspicions that the pricing agreements among the companies might date back as far as 2004, Reuters reported.

Luxury coffee manufacturer Alois Dallmayr Kaffee OHG and Tchibo GmbH, the largest coffee manufacturer in Germany, both confirmed investigators had targeted the companies, Reuters reported.
