Judge Tosses $27M Award In Prempro Case

Law360, New York (July 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Blaming himself for a jury's reliance on questionable expert testimony, a federal judge has thrown out a $27 million award to a woman who sued Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc. and a Pfizer Inc. subsidiary over their controversial hormone replacement drugs.

Judge William R. Wilson, who presided over the February trial in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, granted Wyeth's motion to vacate the punitive damages awarded to Donna Scroggin on Tuesday.
