EU Raids Cereal Traders In Cartel Probe

Law360 (July 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission carried out surprise inspections of traders and distributors of cereals and other agricultural products, the commission confirmed Thursday.

The commission said it had reason to believe that the companies — traders and distributors of products for both human consumption and animal feed — may have been involved in cartel activity and other restrictive business practices. The surprise visits to the companies' premises were conducted in two EU countries.

The firms raided by antitrust investigators were not identified by the commission, as is customary....
