Discrimination Suit Against Del. Governor Will Go On

Law360, New York (July 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A district judge has denied a motion to dismiss a gender discrimination suit that accuses Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner of denying a state police officer's 2003 promotion.

The complaint was filed in August 2006 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.

Cpl. Timothy Shockley was recommended for promotion to become the noncommissioned officer in charge of the governor's security detail in 2003, the complaint says. But Minner denied his promotion because of his gender, the suit says. At the time, the person...
