Skechers Clogs Step On Crocs' Toes, Patent Suit Says

Law360, New York (July 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Shoemaker Crocs Inc. has sued competitor Skechers USA Inc. over a line of slip-on foam clogs that Crocs says knocks off its patented designs and logo.

The suit, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, alleges that Skechers has infringed the Crocs logo, trade dress and three patents for ornamental design.

The Skechers versions confuse customers because they are deceptively similar to those produced under the Crocs brand, and they dilute and tarnish the Crocs name, the suit says.
