Associates Happier Than Partners With Pay: Survey

Law360, New York (July 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Hefty pay increases for associates have led to a surprising role reversal at major law firms, with associates now happier with their pay than partners, according to our survey of more than 6,000 lawyers at over 200 firms.

While both associates and partners are generally happy with their pay, our survey found that 14.0% of partners are dissatisfied with their compensation, compared with only 11.4% of associates. Among associates and partners, well over 80% of the respondents said they were pleased with their compensation.
