Groups Sue Government Over Colorado Drilling Plan

Law360, New York (July 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A coalition of environmental groups has sued the U.S. Bureau of Land Management over its plan to open 55,000 acres of public land in Colorado for oil and gas drilling, saying that the bureau did not fully consider other alternatives for developing the land.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, seeks an injunction blocking an auction of leases to public lands on Colorado's Roan Plateau, currently set for Aug. 14.
