Fed. Circuit Tosses $84.6M Ruling Against Thomson

Law360, New York (July 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has overturned an $84.6 million judgment that concluded Thomson Reuters Corp. intentionally infringed a patent covering the online auction of municipal bonds.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Monday reversed the victory for MuniAuction Inc., determining that its patent was obvious and Thomson did not willfully infringe the technology with its electronic bid-submission software.
