Obama Nominates Caplin Attorney To Head DOJ Tax Division
Law360, New York (February 25, 2015, 12:56 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday nominated Caplin & Drysdale attorney Cono R. Namorato to the top spot in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division to replace Tamara W. Ashford, who was confirmed to the U.S. Tax Court in November.
Namorato has been at Caplin since 2006. If confirmed, Namorato would return to the DOJ, where he has held numerous positions, including chief of the criminal section and deputy assistant attorney general in charge of criminal tax enforcement in the 1970s.
