Suit Seeks To Stop Duke Power Plant In N.C.

Law360, New York (July 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of five environmental organizations has asked a federal court to stop the construction of a coal-fired power plant in North Carolina by a subsidiary of Duke Energy Corp.

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, asks to halt the construction of Cliffside Unit 6 — an 800-megawatt, coal-fired power plant in Rutherford County, N.C. — because it violates the Clean Air Act.
