E.C. Clears E.On Bid For Endesa

Law360, New York (April 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The controversial takeover of Spanish energy company Endesa by German utility E.On has been approved by the European Commission, despite the efforts of the Spanish government.

After conducting a month-long review of the proposed acquisition, the Commission ruled that “the proposed transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area or any substantial part of it.”
