Branded Drug Cos. Paying Off Generics: FTC Report

Law360, New York (April 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Spurred by a series of recent legal victories, brand-name drug makers are increasingly collaborating with generic rivals to stall the introduction of cheaper generic drugs to the detriment of consumers, according to a report released this week by the Federal Trade Commission.

The study, which is part of a wider probe into anti-competitive practices in the prescription drug industry, analyzed the twenty agreements that were filed by generic and brand-name drug manufacturers with the FTC in fiscal year 2005.
