Sens. Pitch Bill To Increase Asbestos Awareness Online

Law360, New York (March 10, 2015, 7:26 PM EDT) -- U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. and Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., introduced a bill Tuesday aimed at reducing Americans' exposure to asbestos by providing an online database detailing where the carcinogenic substance can be found.

The Reducing Exposure to Asbestos Database Act, or READ Act, would pick up where legislation passed by President Ronald Reagan left off by increasing reporting requirements for asbestos manufacturers and processors, as well as for companies that import the material, according to a statement released by Durbin's office.
