Alaska House To Vote On Gas Pipeline License

Law360, New York (July 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Alaska lawmakers were scheduled to vote Tuesday on whether TransCanada Corp. should be allowed a license to pursue a $26.6 billion natural gas pipeline project in the contended, gas-rich fields of the state's North Slope.

The 40-member strong Alaska House of Representatives prepared to vote over whether it should support or reject Gov. Sarah Palin's proposal to give TransCanada an exclusive license to obtain federal certification for the pipeline, which would be 1,715 miles long.
