'Never Settle With Trolls,' Startup Says After Patent Verdict

Peter Kang (March 19, 2015, 6:54 PM EDT) -- After a Florida federal jury found that startup Life360 Inc. did not infringe patents held by Advanced Ground Information Systems Inc., Life360 said Thursday that it hopes the victory sets an example for other small companies that find themselves the target of patent suits.

Following a five-day trial and a little over five hours of deliberation, a jury ruled on March 13 that Silicon Valley-based Life360, which makes location-sharing smartphone apps for families, did not infringe four patents held by AGIS, a company that develops location-sharing technology for the military and police, according to court documents.
