Cox To Pay $60M For Kickbacks, Medicare Fraud

Law360, New York (July 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- CoxHealth revealed on Tuesday that it has agreed to pay $60 million to settle the U.S. government's charges that it conspired to ensure that physicians referred patients to its services in exchange for kickbacks.

In addition to admitting to striking an agreement with the physicians group Ferrell-Duncan Clinic Inc. back in 1996, Cox acknowledged the government's claims that it submitted fraudulent Medicare cost reports between 1997 and 2005.
