On Biotech Hot Streak, Roche Picks Up Arius

Law360, New York (July 23, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Roche Holdings AG continues its takeover streak, announcing plans Wednesday to purchase Arius Research Inc. for $189.3 million (CAD$191 million) and bringing its total of newly acquired North American biotechnology firms to three for this week.

The companies announced Wednesday that they had signed an agreement that would allow Roche to acquire Arius, a firm that develops biotherapeutics in the fields of oncology and inflammatory disease.
