Telstra Lodges Complaint Against Competition Regulator

Law360 (May 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After receiving a competition notice that it deemed unfair and unauthorized, Australian telecommunications company Telstra Corp. has shot off a legal challenge to the Australian competition regulator in a tussle over wholesale pricing of home phone services.

Telstra lodged an application in the Federal Court against the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, claiming the competition regulator had inconsistent arguments in its competition notice and its preceding consultation notice issued to the top Australian telecommunications company.
