New Scrushy Trial Opens Over Alleged Bribery

Law360 (May 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Another trial for former HealthSouth Corp. chief Richard M. Scrushy got underway Monday, with the U.S. Attorney’s Office hoping to jail the fallen executive over $500,000 in alleged government bribes.

The trial, which also targets former Alabama governor Don Siegelman, comes just shy of one year after the government failed to convict Scrushy for involvement in the $2.7 billion accounting fraud scandal that sent shares of the healthcare services provider tumbling.
