Feds Seize Erectile Dysfunction Drugs

Law360 (July 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- U.S. marshals seized $74,000 worth of illegal erectile dysfunction drugs Thursday, after SEI Pharmaceuticals Inc. failed to recall the tablets marketed as “dietary supplements” but containing a chemical similar to the active ingredient in Viagra.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration ordered the seizure after the Miami-based company ignored a May 27 order to recall its Xiadafil VIP tablets. Though marketed as “supplements” for sexual enhancement, the FDA said, these products contain a potentially life-threatening ingredient that has never been approved by the FDA.
