Fla. Aluminum Co. Settles FCA Suit Over Chinese Duties

Law360, New York (April 2, 2015, 12:40 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Wednesday dismissed Southeastern Aluminum Products Inc. from a whistleblower suit alleging it conspired to dodge anti-dumping and countervailing duties on aluminum products from China, granting a joint motion to dismiss following settlements with the government and a relator.

According to U.S. District Judge Brian J. Davis’ order, Southeastern agreed to settle relator James F. Valenti, Jr.’s expenses and attorneys’ fees and costs in mid-March. The agreement followed a $650,000 settlement inked with the U.S. Department of Justice over allegations it made...
