Nacchio Defense Bids To Move Trial, Citing Bad Rep

Law360, New York (May 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Attorneys for former Qwest Communications chief executive Joe Nacchio are moving for a change of venue if the judge refuses to drop insider trading charges against the fallen executive, saying he cannot get a fair trial in Denver because he is “among the most reviled figures” in the city’s recent history.

The move is part of a new defensive strategy launched by the defense team, which has also accused government attorneys of improperly influencing a grand jury before it indicted Nacchio.
