House Dem Fears TPP Will Flood US With Unsafe Seafood
Law360, New York (April 9, 2015, 7:05 PM EDT) -- Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., on Thursday pressed the Obama administration to come forward with an explanation for how it will ensure the safety of seafood imports once the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership is in effect, questioning the government's ability to protect its food supply under the pact.
The veteran Democrat, a longtime TPP skeptic, wrote to U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman and other cabinet officials, claiming that the TPP will exacerbate the gaps in an already overwhelmed U.S. regulatory system and demanding clarity on the administration's plan of action.
