Law360, New York (April 15, 2015, 12:41 PM EDT) -- Federal Energy Regulatory Commissioner Norman Bay on Wednesday officially assumed the commission's chairmanship, succeeding Cheryl LaFleur in deal brokered last year in order to ensure his confirmation, which was fiercely opposed by U.S. Senate Republicans and critics of Bay's tactics as FERC enforcement chief.
LaFleur and Bay were confirmed for FERC seats by the Senate in July with a deal in place with the White House in which Bay would initially serve as a FERC commissioner for a nine-month period while LaFleur would continue to chair the commission.
