Investment Fund Targets VirnetX Patents In AIA Reviews

Law360, New York (April 15, 2015, 5:21 PM EDT) -- The Mangrove Partners Master Fund Ltd. filed two petitions with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board Tuesday challenging a pair of VirnetX Inc.’s networking patents, which have previously been asserted against Apple Inc., saying the challenged claims are unpatentable based on prior art.

Mangrove, which describes itself as a "value-oriented investment manager," told the PTAB that there is a reasonable likelihood it will prevail regarding at least one of the challenged claims in both U.S. Patent Numbers 6,502,135 and 7,490,151.
