U.S. Gov't Loses Money Order Appeal At Federal Circuit

Law360 (May 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a blow to the federal government, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has affirmed a lower court ruling that the U.S. Post Office infringed patents for money order technology held by an Illinois check protection company.

In rejecting the government’s appeal, the Federal Circuit handed a clear victory to plaintiff Paymaster Technologies Inc., which sued the USPS in 2002 in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
