Harbinger Asks For Referee in Crescent's Bankruptcy

Law360, New York (May 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Attorneys for Harbinger Master Capital Funds I, Ltd. have filed a motion in federal bankruptcy court asking a U.S. Trustee to appoint an independent examiner to oversee Crescent Jewelers Inc.’s Chapter 11 case and investigate allegations of misconduct.

The motion marked the latest development in a bitter battle between Harbinger and Crescent, which filed for bankruptcy in August 2004 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California.
