Ofcom Investigates BT Wholesale Pricing

Law360, New York (August 1, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- U.K. competition regulator Ofcom launched an investigation on Friday into claims that telecommunications giant BT Group has abused its dominant hold on the wholesale market for voice calls.

The agency announced that it had received complaints from communications rivals Thus Plc and Gamma Telecom Ltd., which claimed that BT's pricing appears to be below cost, in an effort to eliminate or weaken competition for providing wholesale end-to-end voice calls.
