Senate Questions Proposed Pa. Health Merger

Law360 (August 1, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A U.S. Senate subcommittee has revisited the proposed merger between two Pennsylvania-based health insurance companies that would create the third-largest health insurer in the nation.

The proposed merger has garnered the attention of legislators for its potential to wipe out competition in the state's health insurance industry.

The Senate Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy and consumer rights, held the hearing Thursday.
