Paycheck Act Seen By Some As Pandora's Box

Law360 (August 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Paycheck Fairness Act may have flown through the U.S. House of Representatives, but the bill that seeks to ensure women earn the same as their male counterparts faces an uphill battle, with opponents claiming that the legislation is not as simple as it appears at first glance.

On Thursday, the House passed the bill, known as H.R. 1338, by a vote of 247-178, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) hailing the bill's acceptance as a crucial victory for women.
