Big Bankruptcies On The Rise, Bain Report Shows

Law360, New York (August 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The recent economic slowdown and looming specter of a recession have set the stage for a jump in the number of high-dollar corporate bankruptcies this year and next, according to research released by the Bain Corporate Renewal Group.

The group, a unit of business consulting firm Bain & Co., estimates a total of between 50 and 75 bankruptcies of public companies valued at $100 million or more in 2008.
