Indian Drug Makers Seek Exemption From Patent Law Amendments

Law360, New York (December 22, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Indian drug companies are lobbying the government for an exemption from patent infringement provisions in amendments to the country’s patent law for drugs already in the market, the Economic Times of India reported.

The Indian Drug Manufactures Association has pressed for the exemption clause in its memorandum to the government, which is in the process of amending India’s patent laws.
