Amid Takeover Scuffle, Arcelor Sues Mittal

Law360, New York (May 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In the middle of a hostile takeover battle, Arcelor SA has smacked rival Mittal Steel Co. with a patent infringement lawsuit in the U.S., accusing the giant of bootlegging a type of steel used in the auto industry.

The Luxembourg-based company filed suit on Tuesday, alleging that the world’s number-one steel maker lifted Arcelor’s technology for Usibor, an extremely resistant coated steel that is prevalent in the automotive industry.
