Ruling Nixes Union Member's Free Speech Appeal

Law360, New York (August 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appeals court on Wednesday weighed in on the scope of protected speech for elected union officers under Title I of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit handed down a 17-page opinion on Wednesday affirming a lower court's decision to throw out Ronald Hylla's lawsuit against Transportation Communications International Union.
