Attorneys Rally Against New Bankruptcy Law

Law360, New York (May 12, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two bar associations are taking the nation's tough new bankruptcy law to court, saying the provisions censor attorneys and violate the rights of clients to receive constitutionally protected legal advice.

The suit claims that the new law puts bankruptcy attorneys in the same category as “myriad others who may provide bankruptcy assistance,” including credit counseling firms and unlicensed document preparers.
