FDA Report Finds Flaws In Jeni's Listeria Response

By Joe Van Acker (May 22, 2015, 4:19 PM EDT) -- Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream has failed to keep its Cincinnati manufacturing facility clean or conduct proper microbial testing in the wake of a listeria scare that prompted the company to recall all of its products nationwide, according to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration report released Friday.

After conducting a 10-day inspection ending April 30, the FDA determined that Jeni's hasn't properly assigned compliance duties or instituted monitoring or testing programs and found problems with employees' clothing, as well as design issues, that prevent the company's equipment from being properly cleaned.
