Insurers Can't Amend Claims Against Counties: Judge

Law360, New York (August 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The insurance companies suing several Michigan county registers of deeds for antitrust violations will not be allowed to amend their complaint to add new allegations, a court has ruled.

First American Title Co., Transnation Title Insurance Co., Chicago Title Insurance Co. and Lawyers Title Insurance Co. had sought to add allegations that the registers of deeds charged “unauthorized and excessive” fees for inspection and examination of digital records and for reproductions of digitally imaged records.
