N.C. Beltway Project Sparks Environmental Outcry

Law360, New York (August 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A North Carolina environmental group has sued the U.S. Department of Transportation over a proposed beltway in Winston-Salem, arguing that the construction project would create a huge environmental hazard.

On Tuesday, the North Carolina Alliance for Transportation Reform, flanked by the Friends of Forsyth County, filed a formal complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, balking over the planned building of a northern beltway around Winston-Salem.
