Fla. Adviser Charged With Defrauding Teachers, Officers
Law360, New York (June 2, 2015, 4:03 PM EDT) -- A Miami investment adviser was hit with civil and criminal charges on Monday for allegedly running a Ponzi scheme in which he siphoned money from his investment fund and defrauding investors, including several local teachers and law enforcement officers.
The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida charged Phil D. Williamson, 48, with investment adviser fraud, alleging he scammed more than $2 million from public sector investors by telling them he was a registered investment adviser working for a nationally recognized financial services firm.
