Dangerous Consumer Products – Violators Beware

Law360, New York (August 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Dangerous consumer products, particularly items intended for children, have been in the headlines throughout the last year, resulting in mounting criticism of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the legislation under which it operates.

In response, Congress overwhelmingly passed the most comprehensive revisions to the Consumer Product Safety Act (the “1972 Act”) in 35 years. Among the revisions adopted in the Consumer Product Safety Modernization Act (the “New Act”), the following are the most important.
