Colo. Groups Call For Stricter Radon Emissions Limits

Law360, New York (August 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Citizen groups in Colorado have accused the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency of failing to properly regulate potentially deadly radon emissions from uranium mills.

In a lawsuit filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the Colorado Citizens Against Toxic Waste Inc. and the Rocky Mountain Clean Air Action said that despite a resurgence in uranium mining and milling, the EPA has not updated its 1989 regulations pertaining to radon emissions from operating mill tailings.
