Fla. Groups Sue EPA Over Clean Water Act Exemption

Law360, New York (August 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two Florida environmental groups have sued the U.S. Environment Protection Agency over a proposed exemption to the Clean Water Act that the groups claim would unlawfully permit the unregulated discharge of water pollutants.

In a complaint filed Aug. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Rivers Coalition Defense Fund Inc. and the Florida Wildlife Federation Inc. allege that the EPA's proposed final rule to the Clean Water Act creates an exemption to water discharge permit requirements that conflicts with Congress'...
