Alaska To Spend $1B On Gas, Energy Relief

Law360, New York (August 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Alaskans will get to stow some of their cash this winter, thanks to new legislation that will pour nearly $1 billion worth of state funds into energy-saving programs including a yearlong gasoline tax suspension and a statewide rebate program to help residents heat their homes.

Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin signed House Bill 4001 and Senate Bill 4002 into law Monday, effectively closing a special session of the state legislature that was called in order to deal with the looming energy crisis.
