Aetna Settles Kickback Suit With Pa. Surgery Center

Law360, New York (July 22, 2015, 6:55 PM EDT) -- Aetna Life Insurance Co. has partially settled its lawsuit alleging that two companies that operate a Pennsylvania surgery center ran a patient referral kickback scheme, according to a court order filed in Pennsylvania federal court on Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge William H. Yohn Jr. dismissed some claims in the suit and rendered several motions moot in the brief order, citing a settlement between Aetna and Huntingdon Valley Surgery Center, which is managed and operated by Foundation Surgery Affiliates LLC and an affiliate.

Foundation Surgery and its affiliates are still litigating the case.
