Quattrone Freed From NASD Crosshairs

Law360, New York (June 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a painful setback for the National Association of Securities Dealers, the agency is dropping its charges against embattled banker Frank P. Quattrone, the former Credit Suisse First Boston employee accused of misusing initial public offering allocations.

The NASD’s campaign against Quattrone, which mirrored that of federal prosecutors, collapsed after a risky extended stay of proceedings led to key witnesses in the case drifting out of the regulator’s jurisdiction.
