Economic Woes Spark Partner Moves

Law360, New York (September 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Long gone are the days when partners spent their entire careers at one law firm. But the lingering economic malaise may be giving partners even more reasons to seek out greener pastures.

“The amount of lateral movement currently is breathtaking,” noted Gary Klein, president of the attorney search consulting firm Klein Landau & Romm.

When business is slow, partners may quickly feel the push to start looking for a better situation for their talents, their clients and their own financial outlook, experts say.
