Lawmakers Call For Antitrust Probe Of DHL-UPS Deal

Law360, New York (September 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A proposed plan by DHL Express to outsource its air transport operations to rival United Parcel Service Inc. is a de facto merger designed to avoid antitrust scrutiny, a U.S. House of Representatives committee heard Tuesday.

Lawmakers, union leaders and consumer advocates told the House Judiciary Committee the contentious agreement between two of the three largest package delivery companies in the U.S raised serious antitrust concerns.
