Judge Bars Cows From Ore. Forest To Protect Trout

Law360 (September 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The cows who graze in Oregon's Malheur National Forest won't be coming home anytime soon, thanks to a temporary restraining order intended to keep them from destroying the habitats of several endangered trout species.

Judge Ancer L. Haggerty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon signed an order on Friday prohibiting the U.S. Forest Service, cattle associations and individuals from permitting livestock to graze on certain lots in the forest pending the court's final ruling.
